Short Description
A dental procedure that removes infected pulp from inside a tooth’s root, cleans and seals the canal, and prevents further infection.
Long Description
A root canal is a dental procedure used to treat infection or damage within the pulp of a tooth. When deep decay, trauma, or cracks allow bacteria to reach the pulp, inflammation and pain occur, often requiring a root canal to save the tooth.
During the procedure, the dentist removes the infected or dead pulp, cleans and disinfects the root canals, and then fills and seals them with a biocompatible material. A crown is usually placed afterward to restore strength and function.
Root canals are highly effective in preserving natural teeth and preventing extractions. With proper care, a root canal-treated tooth can last a lifetime. Advances in dental technology have made the procedure more comfortable, with minimal pain and a quick recovery period.
