Short Description

One of the four sections of the mouth used to group and identify teeth during exams and treatments.

Long Description

A quadrant is one of the four regions into which the mouth is divided: upper right, upper left, lower right, and lower left. Each quadrant contains a set of teeth including incisors, canines, premolars, and molars.

Dentists use quadrants to organize treatment plans, chart conditions, and describe procedures. For example, a dentist might say a patient needs a filling in the lower left quadrant, which helps pinpoint the location.

Understanding dental quadrants simplifies communication and helps both providers and patients discuss and track oral health accurately. This division is also used in insurance billing and coding.
