Composite Resin Filling

C

Short Description

A tooth-colored, durable filling material used to restore cavities and repair minor tooth damage while blending naturally with enamel.

Long Description

A composite resin filling is a tooth-colored dental restoration made from a blend of plastic and fine glass particles. It is used to repair cavities, chipped teeth, and minor fractures while providing a natural-looking finish that blends seamlessly with surrounding enamel.

Unlike traditional silver amalgam fillings, composite resin bonds directly to the tooth structure, requiring less removal of healthy tooth material. This bonding process helps strengthen the tooth and reduce the risk of future fractures. Additionally, the material is available in various shades to match the natural color of a patient's teeth.

While composite resin fillings are aesthetically pleasing and durable, they may not last as long as metal fillings in areas exposed to heavy chewing forces. Regular dental care, including good oral hygiene and check-ups, helps extend the lifespan of these restorations.
