Fluoride Varnish

F

Short Description

A protective fluoride coating painted onto teeth to strengthen enamel and prevent cavities.

Long Description

Fluoride varnish is a concentrated fluoride treatment applied by a dental professional to help prevent tooth decay and remineralize enamel. The varnish is brushed onto the teeth and quickly hardens, creating a protective layer.

It’s commonly used in both children and adults who are at higher risk for cavities, such as those with a history of decay or exposed root surfaces. It’s especially useful for young children because it’s quick, safe, and easy to apply.

The patient is usually advised to avoid eating or brushing for a few hours after application to allow the fluoride to fully absorb. Regular fluoride treatments can play a vital role in maintaining strong, cavity-resistant teeth.
